“We have sold 95% of the tickets, we hope to reach maximum capacity in the next few days”, said production director Pedro Viegas.
Data released indicates that around 20% of spectators in Coimbra are coming from the surrounding region, the highest percentage for a single location, although 80% of Guns N' Roses fans are travelling from other parts of the country.
Tickets for the sixth concert in Portugal by the band led by Axl Rose are on sale for between 90 and 155 euros.
Regarding the choice of Coimbra for Guns N’ Roses’ performance in Portugal this year, Pedro Viegas noted that “it is always easier” to opt for the city in the center of the country after four Coldplay concerts were held here in May 2023.
However, although the choice was made by the promoter Everything is New, “there has to be authorization from any artist, in the end the decision is not ours”, he emphasized.
Mayor José Manuel Silva said, in turn, that organizing major events is competitive at all levels and that Coimbra “has to be competitive to assert itself and bring great concerts”.
After the Rolling Stones (September 2003), George Michael (2007), U2 (two shows in October 2010), Madonna in 2012 and Coldplay (four dates in May 2023), the Cidade de Coimbra stadium will be the 'home' of Guns N' Roses, for a one-off performance, on Friday 6 June, four days after a show in Istanbul (Turkey) and three days before the show scheduled for Barcelona (Spain).
The Coimbra show will be the 11th leg (and the first in Western Europe) of the world tour – entitled "Because What You Want & What You Get Are Two Completely Different Things” – by Axl Rose and Slash's band, which began on July 1st in South Korea and will end on July 31st in Wacken, Germany, for a total of 30 dates.
