British users are spending a third less time on major adult websites after new online safety laws introduced mandatory age checks, requiring ID verification, bank accounts or facial analysis.

The statistics suggest that large numbers of users are visiting the sites, only to leave when faced with the checks, as VPN downloads increase to bypass UK restrictions.
Average visits to the four most popular sites dropped from over 12 minutes to about 7 minutes and 40 seconds.
