This way, the Australian group is one step ahead of CVC Capital and KKR.

The Macquarie Group wants to buy approximately 40% of Luz Saúde, which belongs to the insurer Fidelidade, controlled by the Chinese company Fosun.

Bloomberg has also stated that the purchase of the stake of Luz Saúde, which values over one billion euros, is set to happen in the coming days.

The reason why the mentioned sale process is happening is linked to the unsuccessful attempt to take the group to the stock exchange, in 2024. Quoted by Essential Business, the previous plan of selling an IPO was cancelled because of the “general market conditions”, being of “uncertainty generated by the resurgence of the conflict in the Middle East.”

Currently, Luz Saúde is employing more than 14.000 people, in 14 private hospitals and 15 clinics.
