In a statement, the National Republican Guard (GNR) said that in the early hours of Wednesday, the Coastal and Border Control Unit's night surveillance equipment detected a high-speed vessel moving slowly toward the coastline.

"At the same time, three suspicious vehicles were identified heading toward the sand area, presumably intended to unload cargo or people," the GNR reported, adding that "after observing signs of an ongoing transhipment, operational resources were immediately activated."
