This year, these illuminations will cover a total of 182 km of light, equivalent to more than three laps around the city. They will be distributed across 46 locations, including squares, streets, and avenues, creating a festive atmosphere through the installation of 1,050 luminous structures composed of 5,900 decorative pieces.

Using LED technology, the project, which will be implemented in the streets of Lisbon, guarantees energy savings of approximately 80%, combining beauty and sustainability, according to the city council. “The 2025 Christmas lights reinforce Lisbon's environmental commitment, also through the use of recyclable and biodegradable materials, with many structures reused from previous years. There is also a focus on using solar energy in the installations”.

Among the various attractions that locals and visitors can enjoy, the iconic Christmas tree, installed in Praça do Comércio, stands out, standing at 30 metres tall.

On Rua Garrett, clouds of golden light will float above the street, while on Rua do Ouro, golden clouds and twinkling stars promise to transform this thoroughfare. On Rua do Carmo, a sequence of light arches will create a luminous tunnel where light and music will merge.

The iconic Rua Augusta will be adorned with trees and luminous clouds, and Praça de Luís de Camões will come alive with a monumental installation inspired by a festive palace.

The inauguration of the Christmas lights will take place on Saturday, November 22nd, at an opening ceremony scheduled for 6:30 PM in Terreiro do Paço. This event will feature a Light Show and Orchestra with pyrotechnic effects, with a special appearance by singer Sara Correia.
