According to a source from Setúbal City Council speaking to the Lusa news agency today, the refurbishment of the WWTP, one of ten projects in SIMARSUL's Investment Plan - Sanitation of the Setúbal Peninsula for the municipality of Setúbal, ‘will enable the production and provision of water for reuse (ApR) and create development opportunities for the region in terms of tourism and industry’.
The total investment of €40 million will be distributed across a set of ten projects, with ‘gains in increasing the reliability of sanitation systems and improving environmental performance,’ added the council source.
This set of investments in basic sanitation will be announced at a Presentation Session of the Strategic Plan for Investments in Sanitation in the Municipality, which will take place next Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the Noble Hall of the Setúbal City Council.
At the event, an addendum to the basic sanitation contract with the municipality is expected to be signed, along with protocols for the operation of the Santo Ovídeo and Faralhão pumping stations, and for the management of the Figueirinha WWTP.
