Luís Alveirinho highlighted the “most recent project” that Altice Portugal has been developing – 100 percent parishes - in order to cover “all parishes” with fibre optics.
“In April 2019 we announced the first 10 parishes which are now 100 percent covered”, in September of last year “we announced the first 100 parishes and now I am in a position to say that I am waiting for this second semester to announce another 500 parishes” totally covered with fibre optics from Altice Portugal”, concluded Luís Alveirinho.
Altice Portugal anticipated, in the second quarter, the target of 5.3 million homes and companies with state-of-the-art fibre optics, a target that had been set for 2020 five years ago.
“The achievement of this milestone comes within the framework of Altice Portugal’s fibre optic expansion project, which envisaged making this service available in 5.3 million homes by the end of 2020 and which was highly anticipated,” said the owner of Meo.
“There are now over 4.5 million kilometres of fibre optics which make up the country’s largest and most modern network and allows millions of Portuguese to be connected in 308 municipalities and 27,000 places,” Altice Portugal said in a statement.
