Am airport 4.0 is supposedly an airport that is fully connected with all stakeholders and is highly proactive and reactive to real-time requests.

Speaking at a conference on the growth of the Portuguese economy, he said he was “defining the concept of the airport” in Montijo on the south bank of the Tagus, which would mean Lisbon could handle 72 movements an hour compared with just 38 at the moment in the one airport.

He added that if Montijo is agreed to be a secondary airport, it will have a high level of process optimisation so the airport fees are more competitive.

“Efficiency also allows for very quick operations and for the companies to stay on the ground for the shortest period of time”, he said, explaining that low-cost airlines turn around in an average of 25 minutes.
