The president of the Portuguese Association of Travel and Tourism Agencies (APAVT) said the figure is something that "has never been experienced" in the region.
Pedro Costa Ferreira pointed out that the number reveals “a 70% drop” in turnover in the Algarve, as a result of the covid-19 pandemic, but, even so, it is a “vast improvement on April”.
For the sake of a 30% tourism recovery this government puts the money and interests of a few ahead of the life and health of many! Instead of waiting until effective treatment, vaccine or, at least, conducting reliable testing the incompetence took over and the government counts on a highly failable temperature measurement alone to screen possible vectors of a terrible virus carried no doubt by a few of the prospective visitors who will be arriving in droves from some of the countries most affected by the pandemic! A terrifying nightmare is visible in the short term! This is what our country turned out to be when you embrace unregulated globalisation and put all our eggs in one basket (full of holes I add)!
