The cabinet passed a law on Thursday that adopts a series of rules regarding access and automatic exchange of information in the tax field, resulting from the transposition of a community directive into Portuguese law.
The government’s draft law was the subject of various recommendations by the country’s data protection commission as it “unnecessarily and excessively restricted fundamental rights to protect personal details and private life”, leading the finance ministry to accept most of the suggestions and incorporate them into the final document.
