EMEL also wants to create 2,167 more parking places on the city’s streets in different areas of the capital.
“This programme and the replacement of equipment at the end of its life means the company is going to buy about 600 new parking meters, according to its 2016 budget which was released on Thursday.
The company also intends to create more adaptable pedestrian crossings, some with the pavements lowered to the level of the road surface and others raised to act as traffic calming devices – and to adapt parking places especially for the handicapped.
