The Castelo Branco Câmara promotes an awareness action to reduce the use of plastic bags among consumers and traders through the distribution of reusable bags.

The “Mercado + Sustentável” initiative takes place in the municipal markets of the Castelo Branco and Alcains and aims to reduce the use of plastic bags by traders and consumers who frequent these spaces

“In addition to its awareness of environmental preservation and sustainability issues and the adoption of more environmentally friendly practices through the use of reusable bags, developed with fibre and polymer alloy mesh, the action also aims to attract more public to the market, stimulating local commerce and consumption of products from the region” explains the local municipality in a statement.

At Alcains Municipal Market, the distribution of reusable bags will be made at the entrances to that space from 8am on.

“The initiative aims to raise awareness about reducing the use of plastic bags and adopting more environmentally friendly practices, contributing to the sustainability of the planet, which is the responsibility of all of us” reads the note.
