The Sunday Times reported that an unnamed close friend of the singer has said the inquiry has foundered because detectives have been unable to find evidence to substantiate the claims. The paper added Richard was understood to have provided police with evidence that he was never alone with two men who allege that he assaulted them in separate incidents in the 1980s.

How sad is life when celebrities are under attack because someone points a finger at them. Legislation should be changed to protect all persons so that until found guilty no one is permitted to tell a story that could effect a persons life or career. People are tired of reading rubbish. Why not tell good and nice stories for a change. I am sure readers would prefer this instead of the scandals

Well said, Julie. Wealthy celebrities are easy game for opportunists. Apart from the distress caused to the accused, the sad thing is that while our dwindling police force is busy looking for non-existent evidence they no longer have time to attend actual crime scenes. Apparently if we're burgled they now want to be notified by email. You couldn't make it up.
