Without quoting any specific numbers regarding the increase in the first 10 days of May when the airlines were on strike, José Lopes said that they carried passengers who “had never flown with Easyjet, particularly business class passengers” and that “many would return”.
“The TAP strike was a good opportunity to break some taboos of people who had never flown with the company”, he added.
The TAP and Portugalia pilots were on strike for 10 days (with 70 percent of the flights unaffected) in protest against a government decision not to award them 20 percent of TAP when it is privatised, which is expected to happen shortly. TPN/Lusa
