The association based its findings on over five hundred questionnaires and said 80 percent of the Portuguese would take a holiday away from home between June and September this year, a similar number to last year (82 percent).
The top attraction was sun and sea (54 percent), followed by culture (14 percent) and city breaks (12 percent). Portugal was the destination for 45 percent of the replies.
The inquiry said each tourist will spend an average of €430 on their summer holidays or about €57 a night, exactly the same as last year.
