It is reportedly the second assault against GNR officers in the municipality of Lagoa, within a week.
This latest incident took place on Saturday night after the GNR were called out to break up a gathering for a BBQ in Carvoeiro that was reported by neighbours.
The officer had to be taken to hospital after being hit over the head with a beer bottle.
