Newly promoted Famalicão remain in top spot with a 4-2 victory at home to P.Ferreira, V.Guimarães ran in five against Desp. Aves whilst Tondela won 4-2 at Rio Ave. Benfica and FC Porto won but Sporting dropped points and SC Braga dropped into the bottom three after defeat at V.Setúbal.

SC Portimonense entertained FC Porto and it was the Dragons who drew first blood when Alex Telles scored from the spot following Jadson’s handball midway through the first-half. Sérgio Conceição’s men doubled their lead a little while later through Zé Luís at the back post.

Portimonense came back strongly in the second period pulling a goal back through Dener’s header before Koki Anzai levelled the score fifteen minutes from time. The visitors were reduced to ten men when Alex Telles received his marching orders in stoppage time but Porto snatched a late winner when Ivan Marcano headed home Jesús Corona’s corner in the 98th minute.

Benfica eased home 2-0 against new boys Gil Vicente thanks to an own goal by Ygor Nogueira and an early second-half strike by Pizzi, making amends for his earlier penalty miss.

Sporting’s woes continue as they dropped points at Boavista. The Lions new manager Pontes gave first starts to Yannick Bolasie, Valentin Rosier, Luís Neto and Gonzalo Plata. The home side took the lead through Marlon Xavier, on-loan from Brazilian outfit Fluminense, before Bruno Fernandes added yet another goal to his account via a wickedly-deflected free-kick past Rafael Bracali on the hour-mark. A late red card for Bruno Fernandes means he will miss the game against table-toppers Famalicão this weekend.
