As decreed by Queen Elizabeth II, Symington Family Estates are now the official suppliers of Graham’s Port to the British royal court.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Johnny Symington said it is “with great pride” that they accept the accolade, which will help “ensure the recognition and growth of the company.”
But it is not the fist time the family has been granted such a tribute, as Johnny explained: “Our great grandfather also received a Royal Warrant from His Majesty King George V for Dow’s Port Wine. It’s a great honour to be in the fourth and fifth generation of the family and to receive this recognition for Graham’s Port Wine.
“We are certain that our ancestors are proud of the feat and that the family continues to ensure the recognition and growth of the company.”
The Symington family has been producing Port on their 1,000 hectare estate along the banks of the Douro for five generations, since 1882, but their involvement with the drink can be traced as far back as 1652.
Stored in the cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia, Graham’s is today recognised worldwide as one of the leading brands of Porto.
