In Portugal for more than 25 years, the Intermarché brand has taken another step towards increasing its energy efficiency and protecting the environment. The investment, which will contribute to reducing the supermarket’s electricity bill, will make it possible to produce annually, energy equivalent to the annual energy consumption of 42 homes cutting the equivalent of 15.95 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

With a power of 114.54 kWp the installation placed on the roof of the Intermarché de Aljezur, which covers an area of more than 1,300m2, allows an annual energy production of 148 MWh.

“We are very pleased with the decision to move forward with the use of renewable energy in our facilities in Aljezur, an area with excellent sun exposure. We are certain that this investment will be an asset to reduce the ecological footprint of our store, increase energy efficiency, make our assets more profitable and reduce costs”, said Franck Saintemarie, partner and manager of Intermarché de Aljezur.
