João Sousa becomes first Portuguese player to win Estoril Open


João Sousa on Sunday became the first Portuguese player to win the Estoril Open.

The highest ranked Portuguese player, who hails from Guimarães, secured the win with a straight sets win over America´s Frances Tafoe. Sousa, who has won twice on the ATP tour before, earns just under €90,000 in prize money for his successful week.

The former World Number 28 is charging towards his career-high, projected to soar 20 spots to a Top 50 when the rankings are updated this morning.
