“The company, aware of its role in guaranteeing social well-being, is committed to joining efforts so as not to fail with the Portuguese, and therefore intends to reinforce the teams of its 258 stores and its four warehouses, from north to south of the country,” says the German multinational in a statement.

In addition they have been working with their suppliers and the various partners in their value chain for several weeks to continue to guarantee the supply of goods to customers.

“We have implemented a set of measures to reinforce the safety of employees, minimizing the risk of contagion, namely: reinforcement of the disinfectant gel in all stores and warehouses, reinforcement of the cleaning of materials and equipment, the installation of an acrylic structure in the payment boxes, reducing physical contact, as well as placing marks on the floor, marking the safety distance, on the cash line”.

Customers are also being made aware of the adoption of good practices, calling not only for respect for all, but also for maintaining a safe distance and paying by Contacless or MB Way, instead of money, was added.

“The teams have made a difference by working hard to ensure that the Portuguese find everything they are looking for in our stores, but this is an unprecedented time and therefore they need more help, across the country”, says the general director of Human Resources Lidl Portugal, Maria Román, cited in the note.
