According to the promoter Live Experiences, Lionel Richie takes to the stage of the Manuel Possolo Hippodrome, in Cascais, on 25 July. This is the first confirmation for the 17th edition of EDP CoolJazz.

The return of the American singer to Portugal is also a return to the CoolJazz line-up, where Lionel Richie performed in 2015, when the festival took place in Oeiras.

Lionel Richie, 70, is the voice of songs like "Hello", "All night long", "Say you, say me" and "Endless love", the latter in a duet with Diana Ross.

In the 1960s he was vocalist and saxophonist for Commodores, responsible for themes such as "Easy", "Three Times a Lady", "Still" and "Sail On".

In 1982 he made his solo debut with an album of the same name, published by Motown, which included, among others, "You are" and "My love". The singer's most recent original album, "Just go", dates back to 2009.

Over the course of his career, he has won almost 40 nominations for awards such as the Oscars, the Golden Globes and the American Music Awards, having been "awarded 17 times for his unique albums and themes".

"On 25 July, Lionel Richie will meet EDP Cool Jazz for an unforgettable concert, where the public will embark on a unique journey through their repertoire", says the producer.

The price of tickets for Lionel Richie's concert varies between €35 and €75.

The line-up for the 16th edition of the CoolJazz festival, which took place in July this year, included artists and bands such as Diana Krall, The Roots, Tom Jones, Jamie Cullum and Kraftwerk.
