The former Porto player, who signed for United in June 2018 on a five-year contract for a fee of €22m, scored his first senior goal last Sunday in the club’s six goal FA Cup victory at Tranmere. His stunning shot would have graced any game.
His more illustrious countryman Bernardo Silva found the net with a wonderful strike and João Cancelo registered an assist for Manchester City as they demolished Fulham 4-0, again in the FA Cup.
João Cancelo started his career at Benfica before plying his trade at Valencia and Juventus prior to signing for Manchester City last August.
Bernardo Silva got City’s second goal in the ninth minute, working the ball onto his left foot and hitting an unstoppable drive past Fulham goalkeeper Marek Rodak. Cancelo, who played from right-back in a back four, set up the third with a cross for Gabriel Jesus in the second-half.
Ivan Cavaleiro started for Fulham but was substituted midway through the second-half. CW
