Portuguese and Spanish palaeontologists believe they may have found a new species of carnivorous dinosaur in Torres Vedras, near Lisbon.

Researchers believe it belongs to the Carcharodontosaurus genus, which includes some of the longest and heaviest known carnivorous dinosaurs, and would be the first of the group found in Portugal, and one of the oldest in the world.

However its unique characteristics have led researchers to believe it may be an entirely new species of dinosaur, which would have measured about 10 metres long and four to five metres high.
