"My conviction has been formed (...) regarding the renewal of the state of emergency until May 1st, at around midnight," said Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in a communication to the country from the Palace of Belém, in Lisbon.
Today Portugal registers 435 deaths associated with covid-19, 26 more than on Thursday, and 15,472 infected (more 1,516), according to the epidemiological bulletin released by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

I am interested to see how long the Portuguese will allow this to happen. Everyday more livelihoods will be lost.

It shows that they have no plan how to re-open the economy. Portugal is looking into a black hole! Very sad...

Congrats to Portugal Government for dealing so promptly with covid 19 issue. I'm one of thousand front line health workers who need to face this serious issue courageously and we've been quite inspired by the leaders in charge.

Dear politicians
We are a small business owner and we are getting no help from the Government even though we are paying our taxes in full. How do we pay our workers when we have no money ourselves . Secondly the Government has to ease the red tape of filling up forms after forms for foreigners who speak Portuguese but do not write. The banks do not helps us. The response from Caixa Geral is so long whether we have been approved both for the loan and the morgage even though we have sent a million e mails. The house loan is not frozen yet. There are thousands of us in the same situation. We are the back bone of your economy. We can bring portugal back again but we need help from the Government and red tape has to be removed especially if we are existing customers of the banks both in business and personal.

I feel very safe in Algarve. Portugal and it’s well studied strategy to keep the virus slowly spreading, is fantastic.

I think the government is doing a good job concerning the Covid 19. One thing I wonder how come the golf courses are closed. They say its good to be outside and when You play golf You keep distance.
I am just curious I live in Vilamoura
Kind Regards

Many many more people will suffer and died from this lockdown then from the whole virus altogether. It will kill all small companies and self employed workers and restaurants. They might never see the day oflight again. To be honest, this has nothing to do with fighting a virus but to bring an economy down on its knees.

Is any country going to request compensation from the Chinese Government for the huge loss of life and economic damage caused by their initial cover up of the severity of the virus Covid 19 or are we just going to go back to pumping money into their economy once the pandemic is under control?
At the very least a major overhaul of the food chain in China is required to reduce future risks both to the Chinese themselves and the world in general.
