This new line of credit, the company said, is replacing another one in the amount of €3.15 billion contracted by EDP in 2014 with 21 banks and which expires in June 2019.

The purpose of these credit lines is to "support the liquidity of the Group," the EDP statement said, adding that the first credit line had not been used and was entirely available at the time of its replacement.

"The transaction was organised by EDP itself, in the form of a Club Deal, with the participation of 22 national and international banks."
