According to a statement from TAP, the Azores and Madeira, Europe and Africa routes grew the most in October, a month in which an additional 80,000 passengers were carried compared with October last year.

In the month under analysis, European routes grew by 6%, flights to the Azores and Madeira increased passenger numbers by 13%, and connections to Africa increased by 10%.

"Although the month of October is traditionally one of lower demand, the occupancy rate of seats offered remained above 80%," the airline said.

In October, TAP carried 7,175 tons of cargo and mail, representing growth of 1% over the same period last year.

The company highlighted the performance of Brazil, with growth of 21%, Spain (22%) and the United Kingdom (71%).

In the first nine months of 2018, TAP carried more than 12 million passengers, an increase of 13.6% compared with the same period of the previous year.
