Newspaper Corrrio da Manhã reports that the 65-year-old woman who lived in the area was trying to cross the road to catch a lift on the other side.
The accident happened at around 7.45pm Saturday night.
Traffic was cut off on the Faro-Portimão side of the road for around an hour.
