Cristiano Ronaldo wins ‘Golden Foot’ award

Portuguese footballing star, Cristiano Ronaldo won on 1 December the ‘Golden Foot’ 2020 award, an accolade given to footballers over the age of 28.

Supporters from all over the world have chosen the best football player of 2020, giving the 18th ‘Golden Foot’ award to Cristiano Ronaldo. The star of Juventus and the Portuguese national team who obtained the highest number of votes among the 10 candidates selected this year,” the organisation said.
At 35, the Juventus player succeeds Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, with whom he played with at Real Madrid.
CR7’ has outperformed other stars such as FC Barcelona’s Argentinian Lionel Messi, Bayern Munich’s Pole Robert Lewandowski, his Juventus Italian colleague Giorgio Chiellini, Manchester City’s Argentinian Sergio Aguero, Paris Saint-Germain’s Brazilian Neymar, Real Madrid’s Spaniard Sergio Ramos, Liverpool’s Egyptian Mohamed Salah, Barcelona’s Spanish Gerard Piqué and Inter’s Chilean Arturo Vidal.

The 10 finalists who are chosen to go to the public vote have been appointed by a panel of international journalists.
For the first time, the ‘Golden Foot Prestige’ award was given in honour of the Italian Andrea Agnelli, President of Juventus, who won nine Italian championships in a row and won 17 trophies in 10 years.
The Golden Foot organisation recalls that it did not hold the usual gala in Monaco due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
