The current cold snap affecting most of Portugal has seen the Met Office issue a yellow alert for 16 of the country’s 18 districts, including the Algarve. Overnight lows plummeted to around zero as frost and icy weather set in. The alert for the Algarve is set to be lifted later this morning, but it will remain in place in Lisbon and all northern regions until at least Wednesday.

In 2020 my wife and I traveled 3 times to Portugal as we have a caravan in Armação de pera. We wanted in a small way to help the struggling economy. And to escape the rapid rise in covid 19. We felt safer in the Algarve. As everyone we met stuck to the rules. We have booked to return in January, but obviously we can’t due to a rise cases. But hopefully the vaccinations are being rolled out. We hope that Portugal ???????? can recover as soon as possible. As well as other countries. Here’s to a better new year. Obrigardo. Stay safe. Peter & joan.
