The inclusion of teachers, researchers and other higher education officials in priority groups for vaccination against Covid-19 does not currently fit within the vaccination plan of Portugal.

This clarification comes after a source from the vaccine task force said that the inclusion of these professionals was being analysed.

A source from the task force that coordinates the national vaccination plan against Covid-19 explained that "the inclusion of higher education is an issue that has not yet been addressed. For the time being, for the purposes of planning, the vaccination of teaching staff and non-teaching staff in daycare centres, pre-school, primary and secondary education."

The unions that represent higher education workers have criticised the decision based on the fact that these professionals also work in schools and will resume face-to-face classes on April 19, but do not belong to priority vaccination groups.

The plan started this month to include in the priority vaccination groups the staff of daycare centers, pre-school, basic and secondary education.
