Monchique Water supporting Tokyo Paralympics athlete

Monchique Water will support athlete João Correia’s journey towards the next edition of the Tokyo Paralympics Games, which will take place between 24 August and 5 September.

The athlete, who was born in 1983, in Santo Tirso and suffered an accident at two years old which left him unable to walk. In 1991, he started playing sports, becoming the first Portuguese athlete to win an international medal, in wheelchair athletics.

With a 20-year career and more than 68 appearances in national and international competitions, João Correia is the first Portuguese athlete to win an international medal in wheelchair athletics.

“Following João Correia’s amazing sporting journey is an honour for Monchique Water. It is with great pride that we announce this partnership that allows us to be side by side with an athlete who gives other meaning to words such as dedication, resilience and willpower. João is undoubtedly an inspiration for all of us”, said Henrique Prucha, commercial and marketing director at Monchique Water, in a statement sent to The Portugal News.
