EDITOR, Howard appears to have been unfortunate in his choice of accountant and would be well advised to employ a Portuguese one to deal with matters here as income generated here is taxable here. If he has paid income tax in the UK he should be due for a refund as the UK and Portugal have a dual tax agreement.

Also, Howard could confuse others by saying that one can only stay for three months in a year when,in fact it is 90 days in 180 and there is no reason for the house not to be occupied by non-paying friends and relatives all the time. A non-resident owner should have a financial advisor registered here to deal with matters in his absence.
