First Covid-19 digital certificates to be issued this week

The first Covid-19 digital certificates for national citizens should start to be issued from the middle of this week, according to a source from the Health Ministry’s Shared Services Department.

The certificates aim to facilitate travel within the EU by attesting the holder is either fully vaccinated, tested negative for Covid-19, or has recovered from the virus. Regulation was approved last week by the European Parliament and an official signing ceremony is due to take place this week in Brussels. Sapo 24

Any word whether this Covid-19 Certificate will be the same thing that allows vaccinated third-country nationals to enter Portugal, as suggested by the Finance Minister last week? Both those working in the tourism industry and those interested in traveling to Portugal would love to know as soon as possible when and how Portugal plans to open to vaccinated Americans.
