Yesterday, Portugal had 973 confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection, the highest daily number since the beginning of March, and six more people were hospitalised with covid-19, according to the General Directorate of Health.

The epidemiological bulletin also recorded two people who died with covid-19 in the last 24 hours, with the total number of hospitalised people rising to 346, of which 79 were in intensive care units, where two more patients were admitted.

Since March 6, when 1,007 infections were registered, the number of new cases of infection has not been so high.

Most of the new cases of infection (629) were diagnosed in the Lisbon and Vale do Tejo region.

The national transmissibility index (Rt) of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus is situated at 1.09 and the incidence of infection cases per 100,000 population is at 84.5.
