Thirteen percent of domestic workers in Portugal lost their jobs during the covid-19 pandemic, while in other professions the percentage was four times lower, according to a report by the International Labour Organisation.

While domestic employees work 44 hours a week, the work-week for general workers is 40 hours. The gap is even greater when compared to the 35 hours per week that apply to the Civil Service.
