Set in the heart of the Algarve, over the years it has expanded and developed to accommodate the increasingly discerning needs and expectations of modern education.

Today, it comprises two campuses – the main school in Lagoa and the new purpose-built Almancil campus, opened in September 2020 – which together cater for over 1,000 students of more than 40 different nationalities.

The new Head of School, Abi Lewis said: “Nobel Algarve offers a truly international educational experience and the highest academic standards. I believe that everyone is brilliant at something and here we help children discover their brilliance, we support them to excel so they can each achieve success in their own way.”

Both the Lagoa and Almancil campuses offer a contextualised English national curriculum; Lagoa caters for students from aged 3 – 18 years and also has a popular national section that follows the official Portuguese Ministry of Education programme.

Almancil currently educates over 140 students from aged 3 – 12 and due to high demand has its second phase under construction. It will open to students in Years 8 and 9 in September 2022.

Joining Globeducate in 2018 – a network of more than 55 premium bilingual and international schools, and online programmes, educating more than 28,000 students in ten different countries – created opportunities for students to develop experience in international cooperation and collaboration, and to benefit from global partnerships with organisations such as WWF and Eco-Schools.

From September the school will form part of a progressive cluster of British international schools within the Globeducate group and be rebranded Nobel Algarve British International School.

This brings some intrinsic changes to the school; developing assessment practices and using cutting edge research to ensure learning in every classroom is excellent and developing its core British education values through an expanded House System, where pupils learn important values through competitions, charity work and community projects.

As a member of the Globeducate family, Nobel Algarve believes that young people will only succeed in the world of tomorrow if they are prepared for the challenges they will face.

The school's mission is to enrich and challenge its pupils so they achieve success in their own way, building character and confidence, so they can use their knowledge, skills, and talents to become contributing citizens who help shape tomorrow and have a global perspective.

Education goes beyond the classroom and a rich outdoor learning and extra-curricular activity programme promotes environmental awareness, encourages children to be inquisitive, independent and embrace the diversity of the world around them.

International Globeducate events encourage healthy competition and interaction with colleagues from around the world, fostering an intercultural exchange that broadens the mind and knowledge of other countries and customs.

The goal is to provide all students with an exceptional international education in a safe, welcoming and happy multi-national environment. Education for a changing world.
