Originally, this free period was going to end this Monday, January 31st.

The news means that mobile customers of these operators, the bulk of Portuguese telecommunications consumers, will continue to be able to access 5G at no additional cost until the end of March, provided they have a compatible mobile phone. After this period, new commercial offers with associated costs are expected to come into force.

5G is the fifth mobile generation, enabling faster internet access speeds than 4G and fiber optics, as well as a greater number of devices connected simultaneously.

Last week, ECO reported that Digi, which also bought licenses in the auction, is working to launch the first commercial services in the second half of this year. A second operator that acquired licenses, Nowo, has yet to give any information about its 5G strategy.
