According to data from the Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE), for plain 95 petrol, in the first three months of the year, national average sales prices (PMV) were higher than the EU-27 average, ranking eighth among the countries with the highest prices.

Therefore, including taxes, the PMV in Portugal for 95 petrol stood at 1.825 euros per litre, higher than the 1.645 in the EU and the 1.617 registered in Spain.

According to ERSE, “the tax burden applied in Portugal (54%) justified the lower price competitiveness in the context of the Iberian Peninsula”.
