The Energy Services Regulatory Authority (ERSE) carried out a study with electricity and natural gas consumers, based on 1,250 telephone interviews in mainland Portugal and autonomous regions, to identify their knowledge of invoices, the use they attribute to them, which elements they consider most important, the difficulties they experience in their interpretation and the factors that contribute to these difficulties.

According to the main conclusions of the report, “38% of consumers recognise that they never or rarely analyse their invoice, although confidence in the invoice is high (four, on a scale of one to five)”, observed the regulatory authority.

As for consumer satisfaction with the bill, also on a scale of one to five, respondents attribute a rating of 3.58 to the electricity bill, 4.02 to the natural gas bill and 4.04 to the electricity and natural gas bill together.
