The fire that broke out at 11:30 pm on Tuesday is close to the University of Algarve and the area where the Faro International Motorcycle Gathering was supposed to take place, which has since moved to an “urbanised space”.

At 08:30, the fire had mobilised 202 operatives, with the support of 80 vehicles and an air resource.

According to data available from the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC), website at 8:30 am, more than 2,600 operatives were fighting 48 fires - between ongoing fires, resolution and conclusion - in mainland Portugal, with the help of 800 vehicles and three air assets.
