The athlete who has the best mark of the year with a jump of 17.95 meters, achieved in the USA, managed to win, once again, but in Munich, in the European championship, being already 75 centimetres ahead of his rival, the Italian Emmanuel Ihemeje.

To the press, Pedro Pichardo assured that he arrived at the competition to “win the gold medal”. After some failures and looks at the coach, who is also his father, the athlete managed to reach the 17,5-meter mark, leaving no doubt that he would bring the gold medal to Portugal.

The second edition of the European multisport championships is taking place in Munich until Sunday and brings together nine sports, with Portugal represented in seven, namely athletics, canoeing, cycling, artistic gymnastics, rowing, and table tennis and triathlon.

The Portuguese team won three gold medals, two of which were obtained by Pedro Pablo Pichardo in the triple jump, and the rest belongs to cyclist Iúri Leitão, in scratch, in track cycling, and one silver, by Auriol Dongmo, in the launch of weight.
