Coldplay concerts rumoured

Following speculation due to Coldplay's published video with images of Coimbra, the television station SIC confirmed the presence of the band on 17 and 19 May 2023, at the Cidade de Coimbra stadium.

According to the Público newspaper, the promoter Everything is New and the council are yet to release a statement.

The video also alludes to other European cities, such as Barcelona, Milan and Manchester. The band has not visited Portugal since 2012, when they performed at Estádio do Dragão, in Porto.

Coldplay debuted in Portugal, in 2000, at the Paredes de Coura Festival, in Minho. At the time it was still an unknown group, which had just released its first album, today it is one of the best-known rock bands worldwide.

I am going to put this here in the hope that someone connected to Coldplay sees it and can pass it along. I met Chris Martin in 2000 when the band was in Cardiff and he was at "The Welsh Club" for the R1 Live Week. He may remember seeing me performing my song "Real Love and Communication" acapella. I am a singer-songwriter, author and activist, with a song about plastic pollution, a book titled Saving Mother Ocean, and an idea for Ocean Aid concerts. I know Coldplay, like myself, support Sea Shepherd, and Captain Paul Watson endorses my work. I think the band might be interested in playing such a concert. I also think Portugal would be ideal for such an event. Lisbon recently hosted the UN Ocean Conference, which I attended. I came away thinking we have big concert promoters, like Rock in Rio Lisboa and NOS Alive that could stage the type of event I envisage. Ocean Aid would be like Live Aid but this time raising awareness about saving the ocean, and raising funds for organisations like Sea Shepherd.

Have seen Coldplay at the Emirates and then Rosa and I saw them at Wembley a few years ago. One of the best bands I have seen over years
