Celebrating 30 years, this free music festival in the heart of Lagos’ initiative remains the same; to show how members can share and celebrate, with that same community contributing to the common good. You are invited to the best one night festival which is supported by Câmara Municipal de Lagos and will take place on the 14 October at 7pm until 1am at Praça Infante Dom Henrique, Lagos. Best of all it is free event with all profits going to charities and community projects.

Toby Millage from The Surf Experience Lagos told The Portugal News that “The local business community has donated the bulk of sponsorship and the crowdfunder, being the local community itself, helped us go over the line and we are still receiving funds as we speak.”

International line up

You are not going to want to miss out on their fantastic international line-up which includes Gentleman’s Dub Club (UK), The Legendary Tigerman feat Cabrita (PT), The Cuban Brothers (CUBA, Scotland, UK, Japan), Naomi & The Raposeira Dub Collective (PT, AUS, SWE) and JFB 3x World DMC Champion (UK). A line-up for all ages and best of all, it is 100 percent funded by the local community and the Surf Experience. Come along and party all night with the proceeds of all drink sales going directly to the charities they are supporting.

The Surf Experience’s chosen charities are Surf Adaptado, Bombeiros de Lagos, Lagos Refood Soup kitchen and Cadela Carlota which is an Animal Rescue Centre. All the bars in the square have also got involved and will be giving profits to charities run by Alma Gin & 2East. “Within this crowdfunder we have prizes donated from Surf Systems & Toxic Shapes, Bob’s Boards, Ocean & Earth and a Seabody €400 skincare package.”

Beach cleans

On the build-up to the night they will be doing Beach cleans to be co-ordinated from the 8th to the 14th of October with help from Surf Clubs, Surf Schools and the general public. The Beach Cleans come with a creative touch, where those participating are in with the chance to win €500 of Ocean and Earth hardware, such as surfboard bags and deck pads, by picking up rubbish and getting creative! You can send photo entries to the Surf Experience by using the #algarvebeachcleancreative22.

On Saturday the 15th of October, surfing for the disabled with Surf Adaptado will take place at 11am at Meia Praia with the support of a professional team called Surf Addict who are a Portuguese disabled surf association, just one of the phenomenal charities chosen by the Surf Experience Lagos.

It will be possible to donate to all of the wonderful charities on the night of the event and you can also donate prior to the date in person by contacting Toby Millage from The Surf Experience Lagos by emailing tobymillage@hotmail.com or calling +351 919 830 591.
