According to the commander of the Lisbon Fire Brigade, Tiago Lopes, “some roads in the city of Lisbon were cut off due to water runoff”, with around 25 floods in public and private spaces being recorded.

“The water drainage covers lifted due to the flow, which forced the interruption of circulation”, he explained, also indicating the occurrence of some tree falls in the city.

The National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) informed Lusa that it had a record of 106 occurrences, between 00:00 and 13:00 today, across the mainland, due to rain.

Paulo Santos, commander of Civil Protection, said that the districts most affected were those of Porto and Aveiro, mainly due to flooding in urban areas and falling trees.

“There was also a record of an occurrence of an extreme wind phenomenon, in the middle of the morning, around 10:50 am, in Marinha Grande [district of Leiria], which led to the fall of several trees, damage to 14 vehicles and a structure metal that flew and damaged high voltage lines, which led to the intervention of E-Redes”, said Paulo Santos.
