Speaking to Lusa this morning, José Costa, duty officer of the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANPC), explained that between 16:00 on Saturday and 08:00 today, 199 occurrences were recorded in mainland Portugal.

The majority, 73, were related to tree falls, followed by floods (72), road cleaning (25), structure falls (21), mass movements (earth, seven) and a land rescue, he listed.

According to the official, the most affected districts were Lisbon, with 85 occurrences, Setúbal, with 31, Faro, with 21, Santarém 12 and Beja, with 11.

803 operators were involved, supported by 263 means.

At 09:00 the yellow warnings issued by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere for the districts of Lisbon and Setúbal related to maritime unrest ended and the yellow warning that was in force for the district of Faro also ended due to strong wind.

“No more warnings are foreseen during the day today, returning only during the night, for precipitation in several districts of the country”, he added.
