Private hospitals accounted for a 6.9% growth in total surgeries in 2022, but recorded a 22.2% decrease in the number of surgeries contracted by the SNS compared to 2021, within the scope of the Integrated Management System for Enrolled Lists for Surgery (SIGIC), according to Óscar Gaspar.

In total, 11,562 surgeries were performed in the context of SIGIC.

The president of APHP said that the 129 private hospitals in Portugal were responsible for 8,037,175 consultations, 1,347,112 episodes of urgency, and 235,368 major and medium surgeries.
