“It is the first time that a foreign head of state makes a speech on that date,” said João Gomes Cravinho, at a press conference in Brasília, at the Itamaraty Palace, alongside the Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mauro Vieira.

The Portuguese Foreign Minister is in Brasilia as part of the preparation of the Luso-Brazilian summit, which Portugal will host between 22 and 25 April, when the Brazilian President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, is visiting the country.
