In a statement, the PJ states that, on July 15 of last year, the victim, while walking alone on Rua do Passeio Alegre, at 4:45 am, was approached by three men who “grabbed her by the hair and neck , putting a cloth over her mouth to prevent her from screaming, later trying to forcibly introduce her” into the car they were traveling in.

“Only the strong resistance of the victim, who managed to break free and flee the scene, prevented the suspects from achieving their purpose, but it did not prevent them from taking over her personal purse with her assets”, he adds.

According to the PJ, after having already been present to the judicial authority, the suspect, unemployed and with a criminal record for the crime of theft, now has to report weekly to the police station in his area of residence.

It adds that "another identified suspect is already in custody, for the crime of theft, within the scope of another investigation".
