Residents in Istanbul were left mystified after a dark cloud spread across the city, turning day into night reportedly for five minutes.

A video clip on Twitter shows the city suddenly falling into darkness and then turning back into day. News site TechnoPixel suggests that the phenomenon could be explained by being a large cumulonimbus thundercloud.
Yesterday Istanbul was suddenly covered by a giant black cloud up to ten kilometers in size. The Sun was not visible for 5 minutes and the city became dark, as if at night. pic.twitter.com/tr8CDZDbMY
